 SENIOR OPERATIONS COORDINATOR (SHIPPING COMPANY) – RWANDA

Our client, one of the world's largest container shipping companies, is actively seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable professional to join their exceptional team.

THE JOB

As the Senior Operations Coordinator, you are responsible for the end-to-end operational coordination for Rwanda and Burundi, including inland transportation, customer service, documentation, vendor management and shipment execution while supporting commercial growth. You will ensure efficient operational execution, outstanding customer experience and development of inland logistics capabilities in Rwanda and Burundi.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

Operational Execution 

  • Coordinate end-to-end shipment execution.
  • Monitor shipment milestones and resolve operational issues.
  • Ensure compliance with client procedures.

Customer Service 

  • Act as operational contact for customers.
  • Manage enquiries and escalations.
  • Provide proactive shipment updates.

Inland Logistics 

  • Coordinate carrier haulage and inland transport.
  • Manage transport providers.
  • Support cross-border cargo movements.

Documentation & Compliance 

  • Coordinate shipping documentation and cargo release.
  • Ensure customs and regulatory compliance.

Vendor Management 

  • Monitor vendor KPIs and service levels.
  • Drive continuous operational improvement.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Sales, Finance, Customer Service and regional Operations teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

The job holder should have the following qualifications. 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business or related discipline.
  2. Minimum of 4–6 years’ experience in shipping, logistics or freight forwarding.
  3. Knowledge of inland transport and East African transit corridors

THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THE JOB

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and competencies.

  • Strong coordination, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; FIS/Salesforce experience advantageous.
  • Fluent English; French and/or Kinyarwanda is an advantage.
  • Efficient shipment execution and on-time delivery.
  • High customer satisfaction.
  • Strong vendor performance.
  • Growth of Carrier Haulage operations.
  • Accurate documentation and operational compliance.
  • Continuous process improvements.
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset in building local operations.
