Local Dietician to Support the NICE Project in Rwanda
- Background
The Nutrition in City Ecosystems (NICE) project, co-implemented by Swiss TPH and its partners, aims to promote healthier diets and food systems in urban areas. In Rwanda, the project focuses on developing and piloting innovative approaches to improve nutrition through sustainable and culturally relevant interventions. As part of this initiative, the development and implementation of “Smart Food Tips” are key to engaging communities, caregivers, and other stakeholders in adopting healthier food practices.
- Objective
The purpose of this consultancy is to engage a qualified local dietician to:
- Support the development of culturally appropriate, evidence-based Smart Food Tips.
- Support nutrition related trainings to local health professionals
- Scope of Work
The dietician will perform the following tasks:
- Research and Analysis:
- Conduct a review of local dietary habits, food availability, and nutritional challenges specific to Rubavu and Rusizi, Rwanda.
- Smart Food Tips Development:
- Review culturally relevant, and easy-to-understand Smart Food Tips tailored to local needs.
- Training and Capacity Building:
- Support the delivery of nutrition related training sessions
- Pilot Testing and Refinement:
- Support the implementation of pilot interventions in targeted urban areas.
- Deliverables
- A finalized set of culturally relevant Smart Food Tips.
- A session report on the physical facilitation and co-facilitation of nutrition training sessions and training materials.
- Duration
The assignment is expected to be completed within 20 working days over a period of three months.
- Required Qualifications
- A degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or a related field.
- Proven understanding of behavioral change principles
- Experience and a track record in training and workshop faciliation
- Knowledge of Rwandan dietary practices and food systems.
- Strong communication skills in English, and Kinyarwanda. French will be an added value
- Experience with pilot testing and stakeholder engagement is an asset.
